Applications open for Grassroots Community Giving Program

30 August, 2022

RAA is providing help from the ground up with our Grassroots Giving program, designed to support members, their communities and the causes they’re passionate about – all right here in SA.

And the second of our twice-yearly rounds of applications is open from 1 September until 30 September. We award funds of up to $5,000 to each successful applicant.

We delivered $44,150 in grants following the previous round of applications in April this year – taking the total value of grants to $84,150 last financial year.

Previous successful grant applications include 1300Koalaz, the state’s largest group of experienced wildlife carers in SA. Their Virtual Fencing project received a $5000 grant to install high technology fencing which emits a beep to deter wildlife from crossing a dangerous spot on North East Road at Tea Tree Gully. The Noarlunga SES Unit also received a grant to fund much need equipment.

Another not-for-profit grant recipient was Operation Flinders – for its Operation Next Step program (pictured above). Participants can earn a nationally recognised qualification, complete an integrated learning subject and earn points towards their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).

As an alternative to money, other options for giving include in-kind gifts, RAA-branded merchandise and volunteering opportunities.

Our Grassroots Community Giving Program has two rounds each year. You can only apply online for funding up to $5,000 (GST included) per year.

Our key areas of focus include:

  • helping disadvantaged and/or vulnerable South Australians
  • supporting youth development
  • supporting and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and reconciliation activities
  • reducing inequality in the community
  • community safety
  • innovation
  • environmental sustainability.

These areas of focus highlight our values, while supporting the needs of our fellow South Aussies.
