South Australia’s regional towns are being energised this month, as RAA Charge begins construction on nine new fast electric vehicle charging sites.
The nine new locations comprise of five 150kW Rapid and four 200kW Ultra-rapid charging sites, spanning from Ceduna in the far west, to Mount Gambier in the south-east.
These new sites will allow EV drivers to recharge their EV in just 10-45 minutes and will bring the total number of charging locations online and available for public use to 117.
RAA CEO Nick Reade said RAA was proud to be paying a leading role in eliminating range anxiety for EV drivers and South Aussies thinking about buying an EV.
“South Australia currently has over 5,000 battery electric vehicles on its roads and this number is rapidly increasing year on year.
“Through RAA Charge, we are ensuring South Australia isn’t left behind by having the necessary infrastructure available to support the fast-growing demand for EVs.
“In 2023, RAA installed more fast chargers than any other network operator in South Australia.
“We can proudly say that SA now has more fast chargers per 1000 EVs than any other mainland state.
“Once complete, the RAA Charge network will span across 140 locations, and importantly, 98% of our charging locations will be less than 200 kms apart – making range anxiety a thing of the past,” Mr. Reade said.
