The RAA Charge network will see 25 new electric vehicle (EV) charging sites go into construction this month, spanning from Franklin Street in the Adelaide CBD to Waikerie Hotel Motel in the Riverland, among others.
RAA CEO Nick Reade said the additional sites is great news for South Australia.
“RAA recognises electric and zero emissions mobility is the future both here and around the world, with a recent RAA survey showing 62% of South Australian drivers are looking at an EV as their next vehicle.
“RAA is proud to be supporting the state government to electrify and decarbonise personal transport.
“Construction of the RAA Charge network is now well underway and these new charging sites in our regional areas will drive tourism and growth going forward.”
Waikerie Hotel Motel Manager Andrew Tyson said, the electric vehicle charging stations being installed at this property would provide tourists and visitors with an additional reason to stay in Waikerie.
“Having these charging facilities available at our Motel gives us an opportunity to provide stellar service to our customers visiting the Riverland, driving business in the area as EV sales continue to grow.”
Once complete, all of the 140 planned charging sites will be well within the driving range of a typical EV, with 98% of them located less than 200kms apart.
The new charging sites are all 7kW AC fast chargers and are expected to come online within the coming weeks:
