Kangaroo Island elevates SA to the world travel stage

19 January, 2023

This week, the New York Times listed Kangaroo Island in its coveted annual ‘top ten places to visit in the world’ list for 2023, putting our beautiful state on the global tourism map – and RAA Travel is celebrating.

Having been in the business of travel for more than 60 years, RAA Travel is well-versed when it comes to promoting South Australia, including the incomparable Kangaroo Island.

RAA General Manager of Travel Gina Norman said RAA works with some of the island’s best providers, producers and operators to promote their offerings to the world.

“From the rugged landscape and scenic bushland to the crystal blue seas and white sands that engulf the coastline, we love every inch of Kangaroo Island,” Ms Norman said.

“We work with a collection of incredible businesses that showcase Kangaroo Island, from large operators the likes of SeaLink to smaller bespoke experiences like Marine Adventures, honey farms, wineries and restaurants.”

Part of our SA Experiences offering with RAA Travel, Kangaroo Island is always an incredibly popular destination for our members.

“It’s no surprise to us that the island has made its debut on the New York Times list, and one we’ve certainly celebrated this week in the travel team,” Ms Norman said.

While we’re in the business of travel and helping our members book experiences near and far, we’re also passionate about helping boost tourism in the state we call home.

“It doesn’t feel that long ago we were seeing bushfires ravage our beautiful KI, and promoting support and tourism funding to help the island and its industries get through that incredibly tough time,” Ms Norman continued.

“With this in mind, it’s even more brilliant to see it get the recognition it deserves and hopefully see tourists from all over the globe see the beauty for themselves.

“We want to see South Australia continue to thrive and grow as a tourism destination, and help play a part in this, and this only solidifies it’s continued success on the global travel stage.”
