“There is still availability out there, but you’ll have to get in quick – even last-minute accommodation options tend to get snapped up quickly,” Ms Norman said.

She said the domestic market continues to grow in leaps and bounds – with many operators at capacity.

“Australians really embraced holidaying in their own backyard when international borders were closed, and this has opened their eyes to some of the incredible destinations our State and country have to offer, Ms Norman said.

Fiji is a great value overseas holiday destination

Latest figures from Tourism Research Australia shows domestic overnight stays and daytrips now sit above pre-pandemic levels.

“Domestic overnight spend is the highest it’s been in three years – which is fantastic for our local operators and business owners,” Ms Norman said.

She said there are also options for those looking to venture further afield over the holiday period.
