Annual travel booking rush begins ahead of RAA Travel Showcase

13 February, 2026

Travellers are being urged to book their holidays early this year to avoid missing out, with January to March being the most popular time for bookings at RAA Travel.

Last year, 30% more bookings were made in the first quarter of the year compared to the average of the rest of the year, as travellers look to secure their flights and accommodation for the year ahead.

It comes as RAA Travel prepares to host its third annual RAA Travel Showcase on Saturday 14 February at the Adelaide Convention Centre – where more than 30 exhibitors will be showcasing popular destinations and offering exclusive deals.

Planning early also means travellers are more likely to secure preferred travel dates, room types and experiences – particularly during peak periods like European summer.

The early booking rush also coincides with ‘Cruise Wave’ season, when cruise lines release their strongest offers of the year. From January to March, travellers can access sought-after deals including discounted fares, onboard credit, free upgrades and value-adds such as beverage packages and Wi-Fi.

RAA Travel General Manager Gina Norman said booking early remains one of the simplest ways to get better value.

“The start of the year is consistently our busiest time for travel bookings, as people return to work and start planning what they want their year to look like,” Ms Norman said.

“It’s also a great way to lock in something to look forward to, while avoiding price increases and sold-out accommodation later in the year.

“A slight easing in international airfare prices over the past year has also created more opportunities for travellers who have been waiting to book.

“With many new direct options from Adelaide including with United Airlines, Air New Zealand, Qantas and China Southern, we’re seeing increased competition and some improved value on international airfares, making early 2026 a great time to commit to your travel plans.”

The free RAA Travel Showcase event will feature exclusive on-the-day deals from more than 30 exhibitors, including APT, Journey Beyond, Princess Cruises and Grand Pacific Tours, with travel experts on hand to help holidaymakers plan their next trip.

South Australians can register for the RAA Travel Showcase via the RAA website, with walk-ins welcome.

Regional members can also access Showcase deals through RAA Travel shops in Victor Harbor, Port Lincoln and Mount Gambier on the day.
