Nick Reade announced as RAA’s next CEO

5 July, 2022

After an extensive search, South Australian business leader Nick Reade has been appointed as CEO of RAA.

Stepping into the role on 1 August, Mr Reade will become only the sixth CEO to lead the State’s largest member organisation in nearly 120 years.

Mr Reade takes the reins from Ian Stone who is retiring from the role after 15 years at the helm.

Mr Reade joins RAA from his most recent role as Chief Executive of the Department of Premier and Cabinet and was previously CEO of BankSA and Westpac General Manager for South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

RAA President and Chair Peter Siebels announced the appointment to RAA’s 1200-strong workforce today.

“On behalf of the Board, I am thrilled to welcome Nick to RAA,” Mr Siebels said.

“We’re looking forward to working closely with him to build on RAA’s commercial success, proud history and culture for the next generation of employees, members and partners.”

Mr Siebels described Mr Reade as a transformational leader with a shared passion for South Australia.

“RAA has an exciting future as we build on our success in mobility, insurance, travel and tourism,’’ he said.

“We’re developing new business opportunities and boosting our innovation capability.

“Nick’s leadership will be invaluable on this journey as we continue to invest in new digital and data to improve the experience for our members and employees.’’

Mr Siebels said Mr Reade joins RAA at an exciting time with the rollout of South Australia’s first EV charging network and rapidly expanding solar and battery business.

“Nick brings highly sought-after leadership experience in the delivery of large-scale technology solutions and development of customer-centric products and services,” he said.

Mr Siebels welcomed Mr Reade’s experience in rapid deployment of technology-led services, including the State’s COVID-19 home quarantine app which was adopted by other States.

“It was incredibly important to the Board to find another great leader who shares RAA’s values, culture, and commitment to improving the lives of members and the community,” he said.

“Mr Reade is a proud South Australian CEO, Advisor and Director with nearly 30 years’ experience in financial services, data and digital technology, marketing and executive leadership.’’
