More South Australians will holiday in their home state this Easter and school holiday period – with RAA Travel’s SA bookings up 17% compared to last year.
RAA Travel data for the upcoming school holidays shows South Aussie families favour holidaying in their home state, with the most popular destinations being the Fleurieu Peninsula, Barossa, Adelaide Hills and Yorke Peninsula.
The most-booked SA experiences through RAA Travel are local wildlife attractions – with Monarto Safari Park, Adelaide Zoo and Gorge Wildlife Park topping the list.
TreeClimb at the Adelaide Parklands and Kuitpo, Big Duck Tours at Victor Harbor and Barossa Hot Air Ballooning are also favourites for those looking for adventure close to home.
RAA members are reminded that they can access discounted tickets for many SA experiences via the RAA Rewards program.
For interstate travellers, Queensland is the most popular destination for the autumn school holidays, accounting for 40% of interstate trips.
The Northern Territory has also seen strong growth, with 28% more bookings compared to the same period in 2024.
RAA Travel General Manager Gina Norman said holidays to Darwin were increasing in popularity – especially as the weather turns cooler in SA.
“South Australia offers an abundance of experiences that cater to all interests, making it an easy choice for Easter or school holiday getaways without the need for an airfare,” Ms Norman said.
“For those heading interstate, Queensland is still the most popular destination, accounting for around 40% of domestic trips booked through RAA Travel.
“Family-friendly hotspots like the Gold Coast and Cairns are favoured for those heading to Queensland this autumn, as well as great value cruises out of Brisbane to the tropical north or South Pacific islands.
“The Village Roadshow Escape Pass – which offers access to some of the region’s top theme parks – is our most-booked interstate experience.
“Holidays to NT have also seen an increase in interest, which we expect to continue into our colder months.
“This growth highlights the rising appetite for exploration beyond the familiar, as travellers seek out the NT’s unique landscapes and cultural experiences.”
Ms Norman said RAA members can access exclusive discounts on experiences across South Australia and interstate, helping them get even more value from their school holiday activities.
