Drivers are reminded to stay alert to changed traffic conditions, with a 25km/h speed limit in place on roads around the Showgrounds while the event is on.
There are plenty of public transport options to get to the Show – including regular tram, train and bus services, the Show Shuttle from Currie Street in the city, and O-Bahn express services from Tea Tree Plaza to the Showground. Visit the Adelaide Metro website for timetables and details.
Motorists planning to drive are reminded that parking in streets near the Showground is restricted, so it’s important to check signage before leaving a vehicle to avoid a fine.
Parking is available in Park 21 West (entry off South Terrace), Park 22 (entry off Greenhill Road from the west only) and Park 23 (entry off ANZAC Highway from the southwest only) – check the Royal Show website for more information.
Accessible parking is available in Park 2, off Rose Terrace west of the Kidman Entrance.
Pedestrians are also reminded to keep to footpaths and only cross Greenhill Road and Goodwood Road at signalised intersections or dedicated crossing points.
Cyclists can make use of bike racks located on Rose Terrace and Leader Street, while dedicated taxi and rideshare zones on Rose Terrace offer a safe spot for drop offs and pick ups.
RAA Senior Manager Road Safety and Infrastructure Charles Mountain said with big crowds expected across the nine-day event, a little planning would go a long way.
“The Show is one of the busiest events on our calendar, and that means more cars, more pedestrians and more pressure on the roads and footpaths around the Showground,” Mr Mountain said.
“Public transport is also back in full swing this year, with trams once again running to the Showground, so it’s well worth considering as an easy, stress-free way to get to and from the Show.
“We’re asking drivers to slow down, stay alert and watch out for pedestrians, particularly around the reduced speed zones, and for pedestrians to cross at signalised intersections and dedicated crossings rather than darting across the road.
“Whether you’re driving, catching public transport, riding a bike or walking in – plan ahead, be patient and look out for each other.”
