The South Australian retail energy market is set for a shock, as RAA Energy officially launches – giving members access to a trusted and transparent energy plan.
Earlier this year, the state’s largest member-based organisation flagged its intent to provide members with a trusted energy plan, citing an ACCC report showing 79% of residential customers could be paying less for their electricity.
RAA Energy will provide South Australians with access to electricity usage rates without the markup*, for a monthly subscription fee, as well as personalised energy insights to help members lower their energy consumption and bills.^
Chief Executive Officer Nick Reade said RAA members would finally have access to an energy plan they can trust.
“RAA has more than 820,000 members and connects with over 70% of South Australian households – so we’ve got our finger on the pulse of what South Australian households and families need,” Mr Reade said.
“Our members are telling us loud and clear that rising electricity bills are hurting their household and family budgets.
“We also know people find it hard to trust energy retailers – and in many cases that’s very justified.
“Some energy retailers have a reputation for luring you in with an attractive offer and jack up the rates down the track so you end up paying a lot more than you should every time you flick on a light switch.
“That’s where RAA comes in – our members trust us to do the right thing.
“We’re a member-based organisation so our goal isn’t to line the pockets of shareholders like other energy companies – we’re all about helping members save money and lower their electricity bills.
“RAA Energy is different – we don’t profit from the energy you use.
“Our monthly subscription fee just helps cover the cost to keep our lights on, so you will always know exactly what you are paying for your electricity.
“Under our energy plan, medium to high energy users would be the most likely to benefit – which is typically those family households or those that run heating or cooling quite frequently for instance.
“This is just another example of why it’s better to be a member at RAA – we’re focussed on returning as much value as possible to our members.”
As well as transparent pricing, RAA Energy will provide members with monthly billing options, home solar or battery assessments and personalised energy insights to help members understand and lower their energy consumption and bills.^
