Having successfully delivered over 140 charging sites across South Australia, RAA is expanding its statewide electric vehicle (EV) charging network across Adelaide, with 31 new charging plugs coming online at four city UPark locations.
The 31 new charging plugs can be found at UPark’s Rundle Street, Wyatt Street, Topham Mall and Adelaide Central Market car parks.
The 7kW and 22kW Destination chargers are designed to charge an EV over several hours, and support the Type 2 charging plug.
RAA CEO Nick Reade said by downloading the Chargefox app, EV drivers will be about to see which chargers are occupied and in use before driving into a UPark car park.
“EV drivers can now access a total of 85 charge plugs across at eight city UPark locations, giving drivers more choice than ever when charging in the city,” Mr Reade said.
“Whether you’re parking your car for the day, or coming in to see a Fringe show, or do some late-night shopping on a Friday, you’ll have the option to recharge your EV with RAA Charge.
“We’re incredibly proud to be leading the charge when it comes to providing one of the most comprehensive charging networks in Australia.
“The RAA Charge network now comprises of more than 560 plugs installed at 143 charging sites, spanning from Yalata in the far west to Mount Gambier in the southeast.
“While we are thrilled to be expanding our city footprint for metro drivers – it’s important to remember over 75% of our network is located in regional areas, and no two sites are located more than 200km apart – well within the driving range of a typical EV.
“No matter where you are in SA, EV drivers can have the confidence of knowing they are never far from an RAA Charge.”
Lord Mayor of Adelaide Jane Lomax-Smith said the City of Adelaide’s UParks provided six of RAA’s initial SA EV Charging network sites and were pleased to expand this partnership to additional locations.
“This will ensure sufficient charging infrastructure is available as more city visitors choose to access the city in EVs,” said the Lord Mayor.
“RAA’s knowledge and expertise will ensure our customers enjoy a positive charging experience.”
The RAA Charge network is being rolled out with the support of the South Australian Government.
