The latest recipients of RAA’s Grassroots Giving program have been announced, with 16 South Australian organisations receiving funding for vital projects.
This round’s recipients include grassroots organisations like Catherine House, Henley Surf Life Saving Club and local charity helping new mothers, Parents Who Have Been There.
RAA General Manager Community and Corporate Affairs Emily Perry said RAA was proud to help community groups making a difference through grants of up to $5,000.
“Our Grassroots Giving Grants are all about helping local groups and organisations who need it most, right here in South Australia,” Ms Perry said.
“This round, we received more than 70 applications and are thrilled to be able to fund 16 of them from some really exciting projects in areas including primary schools, scout groups, community associations and organisations that help brand new parents at a vulnerable time of their lives.”
The RAA funding will help to expand the ‘Dinners On Us’ program from Parents Who Have Been There, which can now assist more families with babies in the Neonatal unit at Flinders Medical Centre thanks to the funding boost.
Founder Jenny Joy said she was driven by a strong desire to support these parents and their families when they need it most.
“Often looking after yourself and getting a good meal is the furthest from your mind when your little one is born too early or born sick,” Ms Joy said.
“Our ‘Dinners On Us’ program provides parents with dinner, dessert, drinks, and a cookie while also giving them a chance to chat to our volunteers who have been where they are now. “We are so excited and pleased to have this amazing funding opportunity from RAA to help cover the cost of these dinners so we can focus more on supporting families.”
