RAA has doubled its Grassroots Giving program, with not-for-profits and community organisations able to apply for a share of the $100,000 funding.
The grants of up to $5,000 aim to support RAA members, their communities and their causes.
Regional and metro organisations can apply for funding to assist with projects that support community safety, disadvantaged children and individuals, environmental sustainability, reconciliation activities and more.
RAA General Manager Community and Corporate Affairs Emily Perry said RAA was proud to help community groups making a difference.
“At RAA we’re all about being better for members and better for our community, and our Grassroots Giving grants are one way we support local groups and organisations across the state,” Ms Perry said.
“We know these organisations don’t always have surplus funds to initiate programs to help those in our community who need it most.
“As SA’s largest member-based organisation with more than 830,000 members, we’re honoured to step in and help get great initiatives off the ground, and we encourage any group with a relevant project to apply.”
Since launching in 2019, Grassroots Giving has contributed more than $330,000 in grants to more than 90 organisations doing great work in the community.
RAA’s Grassroots Giving Grant was fundamental for Parents Who Have Been There and their ‘Dinners on Us’ program in the heart of the hospital’s Neonatal Unit.
Families of premature and sick babies are provided a fortnightly dinner and were also offered a safe space to chat with others in similar situations.
Parents Who Have Been There Treasurer Jenny Joy said RAA’s Grassroots Giving Grant was a vital support.
“Dinners On Us provides practical help to families in the NICU all the while giving parents a chance to chat to us Parents Who Have Been There and connect with each other,” Ms Joy said.
“The cost of these dinners has increased as well the amount we need to take in due to their uptake and longer nights.
“To have a boost in funds to support these dinners for a year has been such a gift allowing us to do these dinners well, do them more often and feeding more families doing it tough.
“It has also taken the pressure off fundraising a bit which is such a lot of work for us year round too to fund the needed supports of the Adelaide NICU community.”
Applications open until Monday, 7 April 2025.
