The Pothole Patcher – to be equipped on all patrols – automatically detects and repairs potholes and broken road edges as patrols drive between member callouts across metropolitan and regional South Australia.
The announcement follows RAA research revealing South Australian drivers consistently rate pothole damage among their top road condition concerns, sometimes leaving them with costly repairs.

RAA General Manager Automotive Services and Strategic Projects Dorothy Nycz said the organisation had spent considerable time assessing how it could better serve members beyond traditional roadside assistance.
“Our patrols drive thousands of kilometres of South Australian roads every single day,” Ms Nycz said.
“They see the damage firsthand. They see the impact it has on our members’ vehicles and their safety. It made sense to find a way to fix the problem as they go.
“We understand there isn’t a bottomless bucket of funding to fix every road in South Australia overnight, so we’re putting our money where our mouth is with RAA Pothole Patrol.
“At RAA, our job doesn’t end when your car starts.”
RAA Pothole Patrol will begin rolling out across South Australia from 1 April 2026.
