RAA’s solar and battery network has expanded to include business customers as concerns over power price rises and supply spark interest in renewable energy.
The state’s largest member organisation is growing its Solar & Battery business through the acquisition of our major energy partner Living Energy and Lovell Electrical.
RAA’s acquisition of this fellow South Australian business extends to all Living Energy’s assets and, more importantly, its team of 24 employees.
The acquisition will now see RAA deliver commercial as well as residential solar systems across South Australia.
RAA Solar & Battery spokesman Ben Halman said the acquisition coincided with a surge in enquiries into solar and battery systems.
“The level of enquiries into our range of solar systems jumped 50 per cent after the Australian Energy Regulator announced a default market offer price rise in May,’’ he said.
“Interest in batteries has also increased since last month’s warning by the Australian Energy Market Operator of potential power blackouts in SA.
“As well as saving money on power bills, solar systems significantly reduce a household’s carbon footprint, which is great for the environment.’’
Mr Halman said householders can save between 50 and 75 per cent on their electricity bills – or an average of $1500 per year.
Solar systems are already popular in SA, with more than 300,000 homes already having panels, according to the Clean Energy Regulator.
RAA has been offering solar and battery systems since 2020, and sales increased 76 per cent in the second year of operation.
“And this year we are on track to double sales in 2021,’’ Mr Halman said.
“Pleasingly, our customer survey’s also show 95 per cent of customers said they are satisfied or very satisfied with our service.’’
Mr Halman said cost of living was an issue effecting all our members and energy costs were a considerable part of people’s household bills.
“We wanted to tackle high power prices and associated bill shock through the provision of solar and battery services,’’ he said.
Living Energy has already been helping RAA deliver energy solutions for its members since the launch of our solar business in 2018.
