RAA is proud to announce a renewed partnership with Bridgestone World Solar Challenge – which includes the return of the EV Drive Experience in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga, from 29-31 August.
The RAA EV Drive Experience will give South Australians the chance to get behind the wheel of the latest electric vehicles in the Australian market – and is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to purchase and compare a range of EV makes and models.
Throughout the event, RAA will have experts in EV charging, solar and battery, and home energy at the RAA marquee ready to talk to the public about everything from EVs to energy efficiency in the home.
RAA Chief Strategy Officer and General Manager Home & Energy Ben Owen said South Australia’s peak motoring body is proud to partner with the BWSC and Eagers Automotive again to help educate the community about EVs and the future of sustainable transport.
“The RAA Drive Experience is the perfect opportunity for people to test drive an EV and become more familiar with the vehicles that are shaping our transport future.” Mr Owen said.
“While EVs make up 8.10% of all new cars sold in South Australia right now, industry forecasts the number of EVs on our roads will reach 120,000 full battery electric vehicles (BEVs) by 2030.
“We know more and more of our members are choosing to drive EVs and Hybrids and we’re always looking for opportunities to help educate the community, support our members and help drive the uptake of these vehicles.
“The electrification of transport is a crucial part of decarbonising our economy and state, transitioning to a low emissions transport future and making a South Australia that is safe, sustainable and liveable.
“The BWSC solar electric 3,000km contest from Darwin to Adelaide comes as RAA completes the state’s first border-to-border electric vehicle network featuring over 140 charging stations and 550 charging plugs across South Australia,” Mr Owen said.
BWSC Event Ambassador, Chris Selwood AM, said the RAA partnership offers South Australians the chance to explore one of the largest, in-market, electric vehicle displays in Adelaide, and test drive the very latest EVs in the Australian market.
“The BWSC RAA EV Drive Experience is the ultimate proving ground for EVs and charging technology, and by working together we can help give people a first-hand look at the best of the best EV options available today and the cutting edge solar electric cars with features likely to become mainstream in cars of tomorrow,” Mr Selwood said.
“Thanks to RAA, those getting behind the wheel of an EV for the first time, or thinking of upgrading, will be spoilt for choice by supporting partners Eagers Automotive Group; with brands available to drive, including BYD, BMW, MG, Ford, Nissan, Hyundai, and Kia.
