RAA is calling on all road users to be vigilant around the Wayville showgrounds as thousands of people flock to the Royal Adelaide Show from today.
Back after a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19, RAA is reminding showgoers there will be speed and parking restrictions during the event from Saturday, 3 September 2022 to Sunday, 11 September 2022.
RAA Senior Manager Safety and Infrastructure Charles Mountain said 25km per hour speed limits will be put in place on streets around the showgrounds to make it safer for pedestrians.
“If you are a motorist travelling through the Royal Adelaide Show area, remain attentive and patient, and obey all traffic restrictions,” Mr Mountain said.
“Pedestrians – especially youngsters – may not be completely focussed on the road if they’re excited and distracted by the Show, so it’s important for drivers to watch out for them and be extra cautious.’’
Mr Mountain also had advice for those on foot.
“Keep an eye on any children with you, use designated pedestrian crossings, and only cross the road at appropriate times,” he said.
“Temporary parking controls and reduced speed limits are an effective way to make sure showgoers can safely access the event.
“Anyone planning to drop passengers at the Show entrance, please remember that sections of Rose Terrace and Leader Street will become ‘No Parking’ zones during the Show.
“Given the high turnover of vehicles using these areas, we would remind both motorists and pedestrians to keep a look out for each other.’’

“While motorists would prefer to save their money for fun activities at the Show, remember paying to park in the designated car parks is significantly cheaper than an unexpected parking fine,’’ Mr Mountain said.
Showgoers are also being asked to consider leaving the car at home and take advantage of public transport options.
“There are more than 30 bus, train and tram stops within walking distance of the Adelaide Showground,” Mr Mountain said.
