The Parade, Norwood (Portrush Road to Fullarton Road) fared worst on Monday morning, with a median travel time during the morning peak of around 29 minutes, versus the usual four.
Other routes that were heavily impacted on Monday morning include:
RAA Senior Manager for Safety and Infrastructure Charles Mountain said commuters looking to avoid delays should try and travel earlier if possible, or consider other transport modes.
“Road closures for the Adelaide Grand Final are in place until 4 December, so if you’re travelling near the east of the CBD before then, have a plan or leave extra time,” Mr Mountain said.
“Our data analysis shows travel times on key routes like The Parade and Fullarton Road north of Greenhill Road increase significantly.
“Travel times are slowest in the morning after 7:30am, so if you’re able to get through before then, you’ll save yourself a lot of time.
“We see thousands of extra vehicles funnelling onto alternative corridors, which is why roads like Unley Road can be slower in the mornings as well.
“Motorists can stay across live traffic conditions by using Traffic SA website, Addinsight App or Google Maps.”
“O-Bahn bus services are another great option as they’re virtually separated from motor vehicle traffic until reaching Grenfell Street.
“Or switch to transport modes like cycling which bypasses the congestion, and can often be quicker during the morning peak.
“Some cycling routes will be faster, but if you ride through Victoria Park or the Park Lands, check for any detours that may be in place.
Pedestrians and riders are also advised that the Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi (Park 16) path linking Fullarton Road and Halifax Street is fully closed until 11:59pm Monday 1 December 2025 with signage installed at both ends.
A full list of road closures can be found on the bp Adelaide Grand Final website.
