Use the RAA app to plan your Easter fuel ups

2 April, 2026

Drivers should ensure they have the RAA app downloaded and updated, so they can plan their journey and any fill-ups along the way this weekend.

The RAA app not only shows the real-time price of fuel at all outlets across SA – it also shows which retailers have fuel available and how many ‘stockouts’ there are.

Currently around 90% of the approximately 700 fuel outlets in SA have all of their fuel types available.

The average price of unleaded in SA has fallen by around 20c per litre in the last few days – sitting at $2.38 per litre as of Thursday morning – and RAA is calling for further price reductions as the wholesale price of unleaded continues to fall.

Adelaide’s wholesale price of unleaded has now dropped to $2.07 per litre – well below the current average pump price.

Diesel is still more expensive at around $3.11 per litre on average at the pump compared to a wholesale price of $2.94.

The State Government has also announced it will be monitoring fuel outlets in tourism hotspots to ensure they’re complying with the state’s real time fuel pricing scheme.

RAA fuel expert Peter Nattrass said drivers should look for the cheapest fuel near them on the RAA app, but should still only take the amount of fuel they need to let supply chains catch up.

“Now more than ever, the RAA app is arming drivers with the information they need about fuel in SA,” Mr Nattrass said.

“RAA welcomes the increased enforcement measures to make sure fuel retailers are keeping their prices updated, so motorists can make an informed choice about where to fill up.”

“Prices have fallen slightly thanks to a lower ULP wholesale price and the fuel excise cut, but we continue to call on retailers to pass on the full benefit of this to motorists.

“For some households this could make all the difference for their Easter road trip, so if you can, we encourage you to head away to have that special time with your family and friends, while supporting our regional tourism operators and businesses.

“We still see strong availability across the state, so only buy what you need at the bowser.”

RAA is also reminding drivers to keep safety front of mind and to remember the Fatal 5 causes of road trauma, following a horrific month on SA roads.

There were 16 lives lost on SA roads in March – the state’s deadliest month for three years.

Easter is also one of the state’s most dangerous holiday periods, with 40 lives lost across Easter weekends since 2000. In that time, South Australia has recorded just five fatality-free Easter weekends – most recently 2022 and 2017.

“If you’re on the road this weekend, please pay extra attention and be patient,” Mr Nattrass said.

“The Fatal 5 causes of road trauma – speed, distraction, fatigue, not wearing a seatbelt and dangerous behaviour – continue to cause too many serious crashes on SA roads.

“Put your phone away, drive to the conditions and make sure you’re well rested when doing long trips on the road.

“Easter is a time for spending with family and friends, so make sure you arrive at your destination safely – even if that means a few extra rest stops.”
