Multi-generational travel is taking flight – with about 50 per cent of South Australians planning a trip away with their extended family.
RAA Travel General Manager Gina Norman said that post-pandemic, family travel has increased in popularity after years of restrictions.
“We know that people are busy in their lives, so this is a way to spend quality time with loved ones to create lasting memories for years to come,” Ms Norman said.
“Whether it’s celebrating a major milestone, catching up with loved ones who may live in a different city or country, or enjoying a long overdue family reunion, we’re seeing a big increase in family groups going away together.
“Many South Australians are booking family holidays to celebrate a birthday instead of hosting a party – to enjoy time away instead with a smaller party while they’re there.”
Ms Norman said some fantastic types of holidays for the whole family includes cruises and family tours.
“Cruises are a one-stop shop where you unpack once and enjoy the amazing entertainment and facilities available for all ages including special attractions for the kids,” Ms Norman said.
“Another great option is Club Med, with resorts all over the world catering from babies through to teenagers with activities like dancing, special kids’ clubs and fun for parents and grandparents too.
“Otherwise, a family tour, such as those offered by Intrepid Travel, allows families to adventure together across the generations.
“For families after something closer to home, Kangaroo Island and the Murray River both offer some incredible experiences too.
“Kangaroo Island has loads of activities and the Murray both offer families an active holiday filled with water sports, walking, fishing and canoeing.
“At RAA Travel we can help design a holiday that is suited to everyone in your multi-generational group, including different schedules and travel preferences.”
