Now is the time for South Aussies to book their Spring getaway

4 August, 2023

With one month left of Winter, South Australians are eager to get out and about across the state.

With current high costs-of-living, many families are choosing local getaways and experiences this Spring over an interstate or overseas holiday to make a handy saving.

Spring is a popular time to explore hidden gems among perfect clear skies, with RAA data revealing Spring bookings increased by 39 per cent compared to Winter last year.

RAA Travel General Manager Gina Norman said that now is the time to book SA experiences this Spring as many people across the state begin planning and booking their getaways early.

“The weather is just starting to warm up and when the sun comes out, we see people coming out of the woodwork to enjoy the beautiful weather.”

“The Adelaide Hills provides something for everyone, whether that is beautiful food and wine experiences or an e-bike tour as a way to keep active on the move.”

“Bike about, taste some delicious Hahndorf gourmet food and wine, and while you’re there in the Hills, pop over to Jurlique Farm. You’ll experience a behind-the-scenes tour of the biodynamic farm where luxurious skincare is made.”

The Barossa Valley, Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island are some popular choices for travellers of any age to adventure.

“There’s a lot of experiences for the whole family, including Wildlife parks or a hot air balloon flight in the Barossa followed by a gourmet breakfast paired with a glass of sparkling wine,” Ms Norman said.

“For a romantic afternoon, Jacob’s Creek hosts a perfect picnic for couples.

“Kangaroo Island is another popular destination. Hop on the Kangaroo Island Ocean Safari 75 minute cruise from Penneshaw to see some dolphins and beautiful birdlife.”
