Festive season travellers are encouraged to plan ahead to ensure a smooth journey through Adelaide Airport – in what is set to be the busiest travel period since the pandemic.
RAA Travel booking data shows the upcoming period between the lead-up to Christmas and late-January will be the busiest month for travel since 2019, with airports around Australia preparing to welcome millions of holidaymakers in the coming weeks.
Passengers are encouraged to arrive at the airport early to ensure they make it through security with the increased demand, and to pre-book their airport parking or transport ahead of time.
RAA Travel General Manager Gina Norman said allowing extra time was essential at peak periods.
“This is set to be the busiest holiday period in a long time so expect to see big crowds at the airport if you’re travelling,” Ms Norman said.
“Get your packing done early so you can be sure your luggage complies with your airline’s requirements – including the amounts allowed for liquids and aerosols if you’re flying internationally.
“If you’re flying interstate, make sure you arrive at least 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to depart.
“Remember you can check in ahead of time using your airline’s app, so make sure you have that downloaded and ready to go.
“Stay up-to-date with your flight’s departure time and get in touch with your airline or travel agent if there are last-minute delays or cancellations.
“As always, be respectful and polite with staff and other travellers – everyone is doing their best to help you get to your destination.
“With a bit of pre-planning and organisation, you should make it to your destination stress-free and you’ll be in holiday mode in no time!”
