Our travel business has partnered with the Tourism Industry Council of South Australia (TiCSA) to launch a series of 10 roadshows to support regional tourism operators through the COVID recovery and beyond.
The regional roadshows will be held across multiple locations in South Australia over the coming months, with future locations and dates to be confirmed.
Our General Manager, Travel & Distribution, Gina Norman is optimistic about the future of regional tourism in South Australia.
“These roadshows are a wonderful opportunity for us to hear directly from local tourism operators about ways we can work with them to grow the visitor economy in regional areas,” she said.
“By working together to boost the visitor economy, we can have a positive impact on the local economy and the lives of the many great South Australians working in the tourism industry.”
RAA Travel is one of the oldest travel agencies in South Australia, with a 60-year history.
“We have a strong legacy in supporting South Australians to achieve their travel dreams,” Ms Norman said.
“To do this we also need to take a lead role in supporting our tourism economy through things like tourism infrastructure, improved transport, mobility planning and services.’’
TiCSA CEO Shaun de Bruyn added that these roadshows not only offered a place for operators to share their ideas, but will also provide an important opportunity for them to hear from their electorate representatives about the tourism priorities ahead of the 2022 State Election.
“There is no doubt that COVID has had a significant impact on the tourism industry,’’ he said.
“As we start to see bookings return, it is important that operators can feel reassured that there is a clear roadmap for tourism not just to recover to the same levels as pre-COVID but grow and thrive into the future.
“Events like these provide a forum for elected officials, tourism advocates like TiCSA and RAA Travel, along with tourism operators to come together to demonstrate how much tourism matters to the State.’’
Regional South Australian tourism generates an enormous amount of value for our State and these events will provide a platform for tourism operators to take an active role to help shape the future direction for our industry.
The inaugural roadshow was held on 21 October at the Berri Hotel and was hosted by Tim Whetstone MP, Member for Chaffey, Justin Hanson, MLC and tourism operators who are based in the Chaffey electorate.
