RAA has been recognised for its leadership in workplace gender equity – taking out the Governor’s Award for Business Achievement in Gender Equity at the 2024 South Australian Premier’s Business and Export Awards.
The Governor’s award recognises companies that show exceptional dedication to implementing inclusive policies, advancing gender equity, supporting professional development for all staff, and making tangible progress in closing gender gaps in representation and pay equity.
RAA Chief Executive Officer Nick Reade said the state’s largest member organisation was proud of its 50/50 gender split in leadership roles.
“As one of South Australia’s leading employers we feel we have a responsibility to set a strong example when it comes to inclusion, diversity and belonging,” Mr Reade said.
“This recognition is testament to the work we have done as an organisation, to introduce initiatives equal gender split in leadership roles.”
Mr Reade also said gender equity is much more than just equal workforce gender splits.
“While achieving a gender-equal workforce is always top of mind, part of my role on the SA Leaders for Gender Equity group is to identify other ways we – and other SA organisations – can encourage equity for women, men and non-binary employees.
“For RAA, one of our recent initiatives has been the introduction of a new Respect at Work Executive Statement – a leader-led commitment to a workplace that supports gender equity, zero discrimination, physical and psychological safety.
“We’re also proud to conduct annual gender pay gap reviews, offer gender neutral parental leave for all carers, and Call It Out training to encourage the entire workforce to call out discrimination and bias.
“But the work is far from done – for RAA and all organisations across SA and the globe, and we’ll continue to look at more ways to be a leader in workplace inclusivity and equality into the future.”
