This summer’s cruise season just kicked off in South Australia, and it’s set to be the state’s biggest on record.
The first ship of the season – Princess Cruise’s Grand Princess – docked in Adelaide on Thursday with more than 2500 passengers and 1100 crew on board.
It’s the first of a record 124 ships scheduled to come to Adelaide this year.
RAA Travel’s Gina Norman said cruising has been one of the fastest travel categories to rebound from COVID.
“At RAA Travel we’ve seen the growing popularity of cruising first-hand – this season our Princess bookings for are up by more than 50% compared to last year.”
“One of the big misconception with cruising is it suits an older demographic, but of those who haven’t cruised before the greatest interest is coming from millennials.
Gina said cruise-goers loved the convenience and relaxation that comes with being on board.
“It’s about being able to get on board and have everything taken care of for you – your accommodation, your meals and your drink options.
“It’s also great for multi generations – families and kids will love activities like poolside movies, as well as shore excursions at some of Australia’s most popular destinations.”
