Shop around for fuel this Easter, with more savings on offer for RAA members

4 April, 2023

South Australians are being reminded they can make important savings at the pump this Easter, by shopping around for the best price and using discounts such as RAA’s newest fuel member offer.

As unleaded petrol prices continue to fall from last week’s spike, on Tuesday morning ULP was selling for as low as 169.9 cents per litre at some outlets in Adelaide, while others were still offering more than 195.9 cents per litre.

A 26-cent-per-litre price difference translates to an almost $20.00 saving when filling up the average fuel tank.

Thanks to a limited time offer from RAA, members can also now save an eight cents per litre by scanning both their RAA member and Everyday Rewards cards at EG Ampol outlets.*

RAA Senior Manager Safety and Infrastructure Charles Mountain said unleaded prices should continue to fall over the next few days.

“With rising cost of living and interest rates, thousands of South Australians’ Easter holidays may have a tighter budget than usual this year,” Mr Mountain said.

“Making small savings here and there can make a big difference, and shopping around with a fuel price app like myRAA is one way of doing just that.

“Typically the price cycle can be more difficult to predict around holiday periods, so we recommend motorists shop around before filling up to ensure they’re getting the best deal available.

“If the cycle follows its current rhythm, prices should continue to tumble towards the weekend, and in that case it would be a good idea to hold out for as long as you can before filling up.

“There are generally more bargains to be found in metro areas, so we’d recommend shopping around and filling up before you head out to the regions in most cases.

“Before you head home after the weekend, check the myRAA app to see what the price is in Adelaide versus your location, to help you decide whether you should fill up your entire tank on the way home.”

Save more at the pump as an RAA member

Charles said RAA members also have the chance to save eight cents per litre at 32 EG Ampol locations across South Australia and Broken Hill, thanks to our limited time member offer.

The offer can be used on one purchase of up to 150 litres for each member per day and ends on 30 April. It does not include LPG.

“RAA is always looking for ways to help our members save money, and this new offer is one way we’re doing that as cost-of-living pressure hit households.”
