Start your E-Engines at this year’s Adelaide Motorsport Festival

17 March, 2023

Electric planes, surfboards, rally cars and motorbikes – plus a chance to win a hot lap with an Australian motor sporting legend in a Tesla rally car.

That’s what’s on offer at the RAA sponsored E-Motion Zone at this year’s Adelaide Motorsport Festival (the Festival), which returns to Victoria Park on March 25-26 after a five-year hiatus.

The inaugural RAA E-Motion Zone will give festival goers an up close and personal look at the latest in electric vehicles, including an electric plane, autonomous technology, electric race and rally cars, electric bicycles, scooters and motorbikes, plus a solar and battery caravan and a home EV charger.

Chief Executive Officer Nick Reade said RAA was excited to sponsor the first ever E-Motion Zone at the Festival.

“The Festival has a long, rich history showcasing all things motorsport, from the old to the new and in 2023 it’s going to another level again,” Mr Reade said.

“RAA is excited to throw its support behind this fantastic event and sponsor the first ever E-Motion Zone – featuring all kinds of electric vehicles.

“Earlier this month we launched RAA Charge which will be South Australia’s first border-to-border EV charging network – helping support the uptake of EVs.

“There’ll be some heavy hitters in the car scene featuring their latest EVs and hybrids, including McLaren, Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Toyota, Hyundai and many others.

“Aside from cars, there’s no doubt that electric powered devices are going to be the future of transport, from motorbikes to scooters, and even surfboards.

“It’s an opportunity for people to get a close look at this technology and it should be a real eye opener for many.

Adelaide Motorsport Festival Chief Executive Officer Tim Possingham said the Adelaide Motorsport Festival was excited to feature its first ever E-Motion zone sponsored by RAA at the 2023 event.

“Whilst the festival has a strong retrospective focus with the classic Formula 1 cars and we have at the event the E-Motion Zone represents part of the future of motorsport and transport,” Mr Possingham said.

“I think some of the electric rally and sports cars will surprise festival goers with their speed and performance.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with RAA to help showcase some of the best and latest electric powered vehicles and transportation.”
