Both forums brought together a diverse mix of community members, local leaders and stakeholders, including people directly impacted by serious road trauma.
Discussions covered a wide range of issues, including:
In Kadina, local State Government MP, Fraser Ellis, joined the discussion to hear from the local community and RAA’s road safety experts.
RAA Senior Manager Safety and Infrastructure, Charles Mountain, said the forums reinforced that no one understands local road safety challenges better than the people who drive those roads every day.
“These communities didn’t hold back – they came prepared with real concerns and practical ideas,” Mr Mountain said.
“That kind of grassroots insight is exactly what strengthens our advocacy when we go to government and road authorities on behalf of South Australians.”
Mr Mountain and RAA Senior Traffic Engineer Matthew Vertudaches attended both forums, responding directly to community concerns and committing to follow up on the issues raised through RAA’s upcoming Regional Road Assessments.
RAA’s next Regional Road Safety Forum will be held in Mount Gambier on 31 March, addressing road safety issues for the Limestone Coast region.
South Australians who want to flag an unsafe or poorly maintained road in their area can do so through RAA’s Report a Road platform at raa.com.au/report-a-road.
RAA’s road safety experts assess every nomination and provide recommendations to the relevant road authority, keeping the community updated as their issue progresses.
