RAA establishes First Nations Advisory Panel to guide reconciliation activities

23 February, 2026

A new advisory body will amplify the voices of First Nations people in the next phase of RAA's reconciliation approach and activities.

Chaired by Kellie Graves (also the co-chair of RAA’s RAP Working Group), the First Nations Advisory Panel includes Aboriginal people from diverse cultural backgrounds, experience and expertise; Uncle Parry Agius, Dr Jared Thomas and Brooke Rigney.

The panel will be supported by Executive Co-Sponsors of RAA’s RAP Working Group Emily Perry and Laura Schonfeldt, and Co-Chair Grace Jennings.

“As a leading South Australian organisation, with 840,000-plus members across the state, we believe RAA has a strong role to play in educating, informing and advocating for reconciliation,” said RAA Chief Executive Officer, Nick Reade.

“When our Board first outlined its vision for our contribution to reconciliation in 2021, we recognised that forming relationships and working in partnership with First Nations people was critical to making progress.

“Listening, learning and taking advice from First Nations people has been an important part of our reconciliation journey, and the formation of the new First Nations Advisory Panel is the next step in that process.”

“From a very strong group of applicants, we’re thrilled to have Kellie, Uncle Parry, Jared and Brooke join us. We’re very grateful for their input and look forward to continuing to learn and grow with their support, advice and expertise.”

Included in the panel’s remit is advising RAA on its future RAP activities, advocacy work, National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week events, best practice First Nations culture and cultural protocols, and appropriate engagement with First Nations communities.

The panel will meet throughout the year, with RAA’s reconciliation activities further supported by its RAP Working Group.
