RAA on the move to new homes across Adelaide

15 June, 2026

South Australia’s largest member organisation is relocating to two newly leased sites from this week to serve members from new CBD and western suburbs locations.

From today, Monday 15 June, RAA’s Hindmarsh Square Shop and corporate workforce will move to the 150 Grenfell St building, known as RAA City.

RAA City will also be home to a new café, 1903 (opening 22 June), and heritage displays celebrating RAA’s 120-year history in South Australia – both open to the public.

From Monday 22 June, RAA’s Mile End services will begin moving to a purpose-built technical centre at 599 Port Road, West Croydon, called RAA West.

This includes the RAA West Shop (opening 22 June), Vehicle Inspections (opening 29 June), and Child Safety Centre (opening 24 June).

RAA West will also have a new café open to the public – Refuel (opening 29 June) – and a display showcasing RAA’s motoring history.

RAA signed long-term leases at both locations in 2024 following the sale of its Mile End headquarters to the State Government as part of the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) project.

RAA Chief Executive Officer Nick Reade said the relocations marked an exciting new chapter for the organisation.

“Moving from Mile End as a result of the T2D project has given us the opportunity to find new long-term homes for RAA and the services our members rely on,” Mr Reade said.

“It’s also given us the opportunity to elevate the experience for both our people and our members, with brand new fit-outs and modern facilities.

“RAA City at 150 Grenfell is our new home in the heart of Adelaide, where members can visit our Adelaide Shop, explore more than 120 years of RAA history through our heritage display, and grab a bite or a coffee at our new café, 1903.

“RAA West is our technical hub for all things vehicle related. Members will have more opportunities to see the work up close when they visit — and while they’re there, they can check out our new café, Refuel.”

Director of Kambitsis Group, owner and developer of RAA City, George Kambitsis said the 150 Grenfell site represented a significant sustainability milestone for Adelaide.

“By retaining the superstructure and rebuilding the rest of the building entirely, the carbon footprint of its construction was minimal, with the small residual offset through carbon credits,” Mr Kambitsis said.

“We are also tracking toward a Platinum WELL rating, focusing on the health and wellbeing of the RAA team and its members. To have a South Australian brand of RAA’s calibre join us in our vision to develop one of Adelaide’s greenest buildings is a real vindication of our project vision.”

Managing Director of ICAM, owner of RAA West, Freddy Bartlett said the 599 Port Road site was designed and built with RAA’s technical needs in mind.

“The brand-new RAA asset on Port Road is iconic and there is no more fitting tenant than one of South Australia’s most iconic businesses,” Mr Bartlett said.

“We look forward to seeing the RAA team and its members thrive here,” he said.

RAA Place at 91 King William Street will keep its name and branding and will be the new base for RAA’s insurance team. It won’t operate as a member service centre.
